An Amazon Prime release comedy-drama, Gulabo Sitabo, directed by Shoojit Sircar is wonderstruck. The movie revolves around a constant clash between Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) and Bankey (Ayushmann Khurrana) who are competing with each other over Fatima Mahal, a haveli owned by Mirza’s wife. The movie is set in Lucknow and the characters of MIrza and Bankey are portrayed greedy for that Haveli. However, a twist comes in the story when an advocate played by Brijendra Kala and an archeological officer by Vijay Raaz pop up for the same property.
Talking about the acting, writing, direction, and cinematography, the people have done a fabulous job. The film takes you to the lanes of Lucknow, the city of nawabs and the Fatima Mahal which is a 100-year-old Haveli and is in a miserable state. Shoojit Sircar had made the characters so realistic, by providing us with such powerful direction and somehow making the characters alive from the wonderful writing of Juhi Chaturvedi. Though Ayushmann Khurrana did brilliance with acting skills as always but on some levels his character Bankey got overshadowed by Mirza and Guddo. Amitabh Bachchan has done a remarkable job in playing Mirza and has delineated the character really well. Another character Guddo, Bankey’s sister played by Srishti Shrivastava has to some extent stolen the show with her terrific acting. In all, it’s a great comical watch but you may expect it to be slow at some points.
